IFMA responds to FM industry’s needs during global pandemic Mar 30, 2020 Facility management professionals are essential to keeping business and critical infrastructure facilities operational during the COVID-19 pandemic. Since concerns over the new coronavirus first emerged, IFMA has continuously monitored and assessed the impacts of this crisis on facility management. As the FM industry’s global thought leader, IFMA has responded quickly and thoroughly to deliver beneficial resources and safe learning opportunities to the FM community. Created in late January as a useful blog post in the association’s Knowledge Library, IFMA’s online Coronavirus Preparedness Resource Center has grown into a comprehensive resource designed to help FMs navigate the COVID-19 crisis and respond strongly and swiftly in their organizations. The center features articles, webinars, guidelines and tools from the CDC, WHO, OSHA, ISSA, ECDC, ASHRAE, the IFMA Foundation and FMJ Magazine, as well as content submitted by corporate partners, IFMA components and professional members. Committed to the health and safety of event attendees, IFMA and its partners made a prompt decision to postpone or cancel March through June conferences. As an alternative, IFMA organized two virtual conferences: the IFMA Global Virtual Event on April 15, and the World Workplace Europe Virtual Event May 6-8. Starting April 1, IFMA will launch a free series of “FM & COVID-19” webinars addressing how the new reality has affected FM jobs, best practices and strategies for moving forward. Additional benefits to assist FM professionals during this crisis include: Special pricing on Facility Management Professional (FMP) and Sustainability Facility Professional (SFP) modules through April. Those purchasing individual modules will receive the reduced bundle price. For members who had a Jan. 31, 2020 renewal date and have not yet renewed as of March 31, 2020, IFMA will extend the 60-day grace period to 90 days.
